Baldwin’s Devil Loves Basic Cable

Alec Baldwin’s directorial debut “The Devil and Daniel Webster” has been renamed “Shortcut to Happiness” and will finally be released after a five-year wait on Starz on Demand cable reports The New York Post.

Baldwin will no longer be credited as director on the 2001 film that has Baldwin playing a struggling writer who sells his soul to the devil (Jennifer Love Hewitt) for fame and fortune. Anthony Hopkins plays the powerful chief of a publishing house enlisted to defend Webster.

Baldwin told reporters three years ago that the film’s non-release was due to some of the investors being investigated for bank fraud by the FBI.
