After being surprisingly rejected for pickup by NBC, the “Bad Boys” spin-off pilot “L.A.’s Finest” may go to series after all. Sony Pictures TV is reportedly in preliminary talks with Charter Communications about picking up the action drama starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba.
The pilot was one of the most expensive of the season, costing $12 million, and follows Special Agent Syd Burnett (Union) as she moves to Los Angeles and joins the LAPD where she’s partnered with a working mother (Alba).
The other surprise passing of the pilot season was that of the “L.A. Confidential” series with the episode drawing rave reviews, but CBS declined to pick it up. There has been speculation it could instead go to CBS All Access.
