Baccarin Is “Deadpool” Female Lead

Following a screen test earlier this month, “Homeland” and “Gotham” actress Morena Baccarin has landed the female lead role in 20th Century Fox’s film adaptation of the Marvel comic title “Deadpool”.

Baccarin has beaten out several others in contention including Taylor Schilling (“Orange Is the New Black”), Crystal Reed (“Teen Wolf”) and Rebecca Rittenhouse (“Red Band Society”).

Baccarin’s character’s identity has not been revealed, though it is expected to be a potential love interest for Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) who must also deal with falling for a man with a disfigured face.

Reynolds plays an assassin who undergoes a procedure to cure his cancer, but the operation leaves him twisted and scarred while also giving him super powers. Gina Carano, T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein are also onboard the Tim Miller-directed film which begins filming next month in Vancouver.
