Essie Davis, the star of last year’s highly acclaimed horror feature “The Babadook,” has joined the cast of the sixth season of HBO’s big budget fantasy series “Game of Thrones”.
Davis’ role relates to Richard E. Grant who also recently joined the cast. Grant plays the larger-than-life leader of a traveling theatre company that specializes in portraying drunken aristocrats. Davis’ characters is a charismatic, rum-drinking elegant actress in that group.
The troupe puts on a show called ‘The Bloody Hand’ about the events that have happened at King’s Landing over the past few seasons. Grant’s character portrays a version of the late King Robert Baratheon, Davis’ does a take on Cersei Lannister which you can see in the social media photos posted below.
The troupe is part of a plot point from an already released chapter from the upcoming sixth book “The Winds of Winter” in author George R.R. Martin’s series. One change made though is that actress Eline Powell is playing the troupe’s version of Sansa Stark – in the book, it’s Arya (Maisie Williams) who takes on the role.
