Unsurprisingly, Disney and Marvel’s long-awaited “Avengers: Infinity War” is tracking to open to a huge $200 million-plus at the domestic box office on the weekend of April 27th.
Projections could easily climb higher in the three weeks that remain before release, and Disney insiders are being more conservative suggesting a $175-200 million domestic opening.
The previous two “Avengers” films opened at $207m and $191m respectively, while the recent “Black Panther” greatly surpassed its early projections like this to open with $202 million and now currently has amassed a domestic total of a stunning $659 million.
The big question is will it top the two biggest openers – “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” at $248 million” and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” at $220 million. There’s also a new IMAX poster now out which you can see below.
