More quotes keep coming from recent press interviews with Anthony and Joe Russo, the filmmakers behind “Captain America: Civil War” and the pair assigned to helm the highly anticipated “Avengers: Infinity War” saga.
Right now the pair are in the midst of prepping that epic scale event film which doesn’t shoot until the end of the year. Marvel Studios is also currently in production on “Spider-Man: Homecoming” with director Jon Watts actually filming right now, and Anthony Russo tells Comicbook.com that they’ve been chatting with him on a regular basis:
“From a process standpoint, it’s like it is with all other Marvel directors, everybody runs into each other in the hallways, we’re passing off story information between each other. I don’t necessarily know how much it influenced me yet because we’re not involved in it on a day-to-day project, a process, and we’ve seen as much as everybody else has seen, meaning if you were at Comic-Con and you saw the Comic-Con trailer, that’s what we’ve seen of it.”
What they have seen though has them very excited. Anthony has nothing but praise for what Watts is doing with the character:
“[Joe and I] love [Jon Watts], we think he’s an incredibly talented filmmaker, super bright guy. I think the tone and the direction that he’s heading in that movie are fantastic. I think it has the potential to be the best Spider-Man yet, and I know that’s saying a lot because perhaps my favorite comic book movie of all time is Raimi’s Spider-Man 2… He’s crazy talented, the script is amazing, and we have really high expectations for the movie.”
“Captain America: Civil War” will be available for digital download on September 2nd and on Blu-ray/DVD on September 13th. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” opens in cinemas on July 7th next year.
