When certain actors are in high demand, scheduling becomes a serious problem. For Benedict Cumberbatch, it has been a big issue for years now and has prevented him from doing more “Sherlock” episodes than fans would like.
A new report from Page Six indicates that it is also proving a problem for his commitment to “Avengers: Infinity War”. The site indicates that Broadway actor and Cumberbatch’s body double Aaron Lazar has been hired to stand in for Cumberbatch for some filming in Georgia due to scheduling conflicts.
Cumberbatch is currently playing Thomas Edison in “The Current War” which tells the story of the inventor’s race against George Westinghouse to create a sustainable electricity system. Michael Shannon, Nicholas Hoult, Katherine Waterston, Sienna Miller and fellow Avenger Tom Holland co-star.
Lazar is reportedly rumored to be shooting all Cumberbatch’s scenes as the Sorcerer Supreme for the third Avengers film. Then, once Cumberbatch arrives on set, he will reshoot all the scenes in which Dr Strange’s face can be seen, as well as record all his dialogue.
Despite what you may think, source on the production are adamant that “they are not digitally superimposing Cumberbatch onto another actor’s performance.”
“Avengers: Infinity War” begins filming within the next few days.
