Roland Emmerich (“2012,” “The Day After Tomorrow”) tells MTV News that his upcoming adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s sci-fi “Foundation” novel trilogy for Sony Pictures will use much of the same tech used on “Avatar”, namely the 3D and motion capture elements.
“The ‘Avatar’ technology applies to ‘Foundation’. It has to be done all CG because I would not know how to shoot this thing in real” says Emmerich who is awaiting a new draft of a script by Robert Rodat (“Saving Private Ryan”) due today.
The ‘Foundation’ books revolve around a scientific organisation set up to ensure civilization’s survival thanks to psychohistory, a successful scientific method of predicting future events.
Emmerich also confirmed that the TV series spin-off of “2012”, which would follow humanity’s remnants establishing civilisation again, is not happening.
