The second and third films in the proposed five-film saga that is “Avatar” spent a good portion of this year shooting their live-action footage.
Filming at the same time, the live-action segments were completed after the motion-capture work was done and on November 29th the film’s official Twitter account announced that the shoot had ended for this calendar year.
That said, with the last day of live-action filming in the can – they offered a sneak peek of one of the film’s key sets. Specifically the aft deck of the Sea Dragon, a massive mothership that carries an array of other sea-going craft in the sequels. We already know the second film in particular will heavily deal with the ocean life of Pandora.
At present the next two films in the series are targeting December 2021 and December 2022 releases.
That’s a wrap, Na’vi Nation!
