“Avatar” Sequels Set New Release Dates

Filmmaker James Cameron and 20th Century Fox used the official Facebook page for the upcoming “Avatar” sequels to announce a slate of release dates for all four films.

The official release dates for the movies are as follows: December 18th 2020, December 17th 2021, December 20th 2024 and December 19th 2025. So far, “Avatar” has those dates all to itself. Previously the films had been roughly (but never officially) dated for 2018, 2020, 2022 & 2023.

A picture of Cameron and crew was also posted on the page with the caption “Avatar takes flight as we begin concurrent production on four sequels” which suggests production is about to get underway.

The original 2009 film earned $2.8 billion worldwide and remains the top-grossing film of all time at the global box office.
