Australian streaming service Stan has closed an exclusive long-term licensing agreement with CBS Corp. to bring all future Showtime series and hundreds of hours of Showtime programming to the SVOD service.
The new deal kicks off this week with the premiere of “Billions” and will include the exclusive 2017 premiere of the “Twin Peaks” revival. Launched a year ago this week, the Stan service has nabbed 700,000 subscriptions and 1.5 million users so far in a country of 22 million.
Over the course of the new agreement, hundreds of hours of both Showtime and CBS programming will become exclusively available on Stan on SVOD including Showtime series like “Penny Dreadful,” “Dexter,” “The Affair,” “Ray Donovan,” “Californication” along with exclusive SVOD rights to CBS and The CW series such as every episode of every “Star Trek” series ever made along with “Scorpion,” “Elementary,” “Madam Secretary” and “Under the Dome”.
Current rights with other platforms, eg. “Homeland” with the TEN network and “Arrow” with Netflix Australia, will remain unchanged with series migrating to Stan for SVOD as permitted when existing commitments expire.
