“Assassin’s Creed” TV Show In The Works

The “Assassin’s Creed” film adaptation was effectively a critical and box-office failure, meaning chances of a sequel from Regency and Ubisoft seem slight. However, that doesn’t mean an end for adaptations of the work as a new report suggests a TV series take on the property is in the works.

During a Reddit AMA, Ubisoft exec Aymar Azaizia answered some questions about the next installment in the game and confirmed that a TV series is in the works: “It’s like the movie guys, we will take our time, to get sure we deliver something we can be proud of, but if you wonder if it’s on our plan… YES.”

A series developed with streaming giant Netflix was revealed as a possibility last year when Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot suggested talks were in early stages in November.

If it is done, it’s unlikely to be a direct adaptation of a game title or even an original work involving just one time in the past (like the film) – rather the TV series format would allow for a storyline to span multiple time periods like the games.
