Ahead of its launch on Friday, reviews have been released for Ubisoft’s “Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey” with the title earning some stellar reviews and nabbing a Metacritic score of between 85-87.
That is one of the best scores of both the year and the game series, in terms of the latter it’s only behind “Assassin’s Creed II” and “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag,” and is slightly ahead of last year’s acclaimed “Assassin’s Creed: Origins”.
In terms of this year, it’s on par with “Spider-Man” on PS4 and behind only “Forza Horizon 4” and “Monster Hunter: World”. The game is said to be the largest game Ubisoft has ever made and continues the breakaway from the traditional stealth-assassin formula and into more role-playing territory akin to “Mass Effect” developer BioWare.
“Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey” comes to PS4, PC and Xbox One on October 5th.
