Assassin’s Creed Film Set In Game Continuity

Yesterday came the first photo of Michael Fassbender in character in the upcoming “Assassin’s Creed” movie, the film adaptation of the popular and prolific Ubisoft franchise.

Now, the game series’ head of content Aymar Azaizia has confirmed on Twitter that the film will be set within the extensive continuity of the video games and there could be some crossover characters saying: “It’s possible you may find some familiar faces.”

In the film Fassbender, plays a man named Callum Lynch who experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. He discovers he is descended from the secret society the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present.

The game series kicked off almost a decade ago with past settings including the Crusades, the Italian Renaissance, Constantinople during the height of the Ottoman Empire, the American Revolutionary War, the West Indies during the golden age of piracy, the French Revolution, and one set in Victorian England during the Industrial Revolution.

Marion Cotillard also stars and Justin Kurzel helms the new film which begins production today in Malta, London, and Spain and hits cinemas on December 21st 2016.
