Shawn Ashmore, Jaime King, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Matt O’Leary and Deborah Ann Woll are in talks to join the cast of the “Mother’s Day” remake for Genre Co. and Rat Entertainment says The Hollywood Reporter.
A remake of the ’80s Troma production, the original revolved around three female friends who, while camping, run afoul of two brothers who engage in murder and rape to impress their deranged mother.
Scott Milam penned the new version where the wicked family returns to the house where they grew up to terrorize the new owners and their guests.
King will play the woman of the house, a wife who has lost her child and is isolating herself from her husband while Ashmore and Evigan will play guests at the house. Woll will play the unstable mother and O’Leary one of the deranged sons.
Darren Lynn Bousman helms the project which is scheduled to begin filming next month in Winnipeg.
