More details are emerging about key supporting characters set to appear in The CW’s DC mini-universe shows “Arrow” and “The Flash”.
First up, Variety reports that Vinnie Jones has joined the cast of “Arrow” in the role of Danny Brickwell, a.k.a. Brick for a three-episode arc around mid-season. In the comics, Brick has thick skin that cannot be penetrated by any kind of weapon.
In “Arrow,” which will be the character’s first live-action appearance, he will be a vicious Starling City gang leader who targets the local government. The character scored the nickname because he has been shot dozens of times but hasn’t died.
Meanwhile, actor Robbie Amell has spoken about his role as part of Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm in “The Flash”. The character is the presumed-dead fiance of Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) whom we glimpse in his normal form before meeting his Firestorm incarnation. Amell tells THR:
“You meet Ronnie Raymond tomorrow [in the second episode “Fastest Man Alive”] and then in December, you meet Firestorm. It’ll take a minute before Firestorm turns back into Ronnie because when they find him in December, my character is really going through some stuff. He’s schizophrenic, doesn’t know what’s happening, he’s confused and dangerous to the people around him. You may not see Ronnie Raymond for a little while, but you’ll see Firestorm.
It’s a huge difference. People will barely recognize him in December, but they’ll know it’s him when the fire bursts in the hands and the fire bursts in the head. The particle accelerator almost killed Ronnie and the fallout from it will definitely be seen in December… It’s tough because when Firestorm comes back, it should be this great reunion but Firestorm is so far removed from Ronnie Raymond that it’s not quite the reunion people will be hoping for.”
