“Arrow” Finale Trailer, “Black” Not In CW-DCU

The CW has released the trailer for the fifth season finale of its DC Comics adaptation “Arrow,” the clip featuring the return of Deathstroke, Nyssa al Ghul, and Captain Boomerang.

The battle between Oliver and Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra) culminates in a final epic battle on Lian Yu and Oliver decides to recruit a group of unlikely allies – Slade Wilson/Deathstroke (Manu Bennett), Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law), Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) and Digger Harkness/Capt. Boomerang (Nick. E. Tarabay) to defeat Chase.

However, Chase has his own army – Black Siren (Katie Cassidy), Evelyn Sharp (Madison McLaughlin) and Talia al Ghul (Lexa Doig) – and the forces collide.

The episode, which airs May 23rd, brings the series full circle with the flashbacks set to come to an end as events in them catch up to the opening moments of the pilot.

Also today, CW president Mark Pedowitz has confirmed that the upcoming “Black Lightning,” which will premiere midseason, is not a part of the same continuity as the other four DC comics shows on their network. He tells EW:

“We do not aim to do a five-way crossover. Black Lightning, at this time, is not part of the Arrowverse. It is a separate situation. But there will be a big fourth quarter crossover with all four of the shows that are on in the fall.

We’re going to have something very unique in Black Lightning. But (superhero shows will) last as long as people want to watch it. It’s lasted my whole lifetime, so it’ll keep going.”

“Black Lightning” is one of several shows being unveiled at the network’s upfront presentation today.
