Arnie On “Terminator” Aging, Boyega Wanted

Out doing promotional rounds for “Sabotage,” Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed a few new story details for “Terminator: Genesis” ahead of its start of production next month.

Asked about what his T-800 gets up to in the film, he tells MTV: “‘Terminator’ deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800, and then [there is] what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So [there] will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie.”

This will also be used to explain why the now much older looking Schwarzenegger will be able to reprise the role without CG ;de-icing’ assistance for at least some of the film: “The way that the character is written, it’s a machine underneath. It’s this metal skeleton. But above that is human flesh. And the Terminator’s flesh ages, just like any other human being’s flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages.”

In related news, Borys Kit reports that “Attack the Block” star John Boyega is in contention for a role in the film. The actor is wanted to play the son of Miles Dyson, the character played by Joe Morton in “Terminator 2: Judgement Day” who designed the neural-net processor that would lead to the creation of Skynet.

There’s a catch, Boyega is also wanted for “Star Wars: Episode VII” and it’s uncertain which of these two he’ll ultimately become attached to. ‘Terminator’ begins filming in April, but “Star Wars” starts shooting only a few weeks later in May.
