At last report, Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Aquaman” film was going to begin production sometime mid-year in director James Wan’s home country of Australia. That may still be the case, but one thing is for sure – the production is going to Italy next fall.
The Journal of Sicily (via Movieweb) reports that Erice, on the Italian island of Sicily, will serve as a location for the film from September. The town’s mayor has reportedly authorized Warners to film some shots at the Castle of Venus.
Wan released a photo of himself riding in a boat off the Amalfi Coast back in September and teased it was as part of a location scout for “Aquaman”.
Jason Momoa stars as the King of Atlantis, with Amber Heard playing his queen Hera, and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko. The trio will first be seen in “Justice League” in November next year, followed by the “Aquaman” film in October 2018.
