James Wan’s “Aquaman” is reportedly heading for a $53 million second weekend in what will also be the final weekend of 2018.
The Warners tentpole, starring Jason Momoa, took in $137 million domestically across its entire first week. Should the $53M estimate prove accurate, the film will only decline 22% from its opening Friday-Sunday and bring its ten-day domestic tally to $190 million by Sunday. The film has also pulled in a further $492.2 million overseas so far.
No new wide releases are debuting this week but both “Vice” and “Holmes and Watson,” which opened on Tuesday, will get their first full weekends. The second weekend of “Mary Poppins Returns” is expected to garner $33 million, while “Bumblebee” and “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” are tipped to come in at around $20 million each.
