With no “Star Wars” or Marvel film in sight, the only real big sci-fi/fantasy action tentpole left for the rest of the year is the DC Comics adaptation “Aquaman” from Warner Bros. Pictures.
With tickets having just gone on sale, the James Wan-directed feature is scoring some big interest early with Atom Tickets reporting that it is the company’s top advanced ticket seller ever in its first 24 hours – beating the previous 24-hour ticket sales record set by “Avengers: Infinity War” earlier this year.
Atom’s first day sales include those sold for the Amazon Prime/Warners advance screening partnership for the film on December 15th. They’re not the only ones seeing big numbers though as Fandango reports that the film’s first-day pre-sales with them is eclipsing both “Venom” and “Mission: Impossible – Fallout”.
“Aquaman” is slated to open in cinemas December 21st.
