‘Apes’ Reboot “Caesar” Still Active?

20th Century Fox is apparently still developing “Caesar”, its planned reboot/remake of “Conquest of the Planet of the Apes” according to Vulture.

At last report, “Minority Report” scribe Scott Frank was attached to direct the project and rewrite an original script by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (“The Relic”).

Frank’s story followed genetics gone awry when they evolved past humanity, while ‘Caesar’ himself is the leader of the simian rebellion and is capable of grand strategic thinking.

Now it seems the studio didn’t warm to Frank’s ambitiously dark and hard sci-fi focus, opting for a different direction which Frank didn’t want to follow.

Jamie Moss (“Street Kings”) has come onboard to rework Frank’s version while Jaffa and Silver have been brought on for some dialogue polishing. Peter Chernin and Scott Rudin will produce.
