SNL regular and rising comedian Pete Davidson will star in an untitled semi-autobiographical comedy to be co-written and directed by Judd Apatow for Universal Pictures.
Davidson grew up in Staten Island and lost his firefighter father in the September 11th attacks. Davidson has said that his dad’s death has greatly influenced his work, including starting stand-up comedy at the age of 16.
Davidson’s recently did a coming-of-age film titled “Big Time Adolescence” which premiered Monday at the Sundance Film Festival. The Apatow film, which will be co-written by Davidson and Dave Sirus, will begin filming this summer in New York City. Barry Mendel will produce.
