Anthony Hopkins is in final negotiations to join the long-gestating serial killer thriller “Solace” at New Line and Contrafilm reports Reuters.
Hopkins plays John Clancy, a former doctor with psychic abilities who is drawn into a serial killer case only to find that the killer is also a psychic, leading to a showdown between the two who can detect each other’s every move.
The project has been kicking around for a decade and was briefly considered as a potential sequel to David Fincher’s “Se7en” if some retooling were done. That idea was later dropped.
Sean Bailey and Ted Griffin wrote the initial draft, which James Vanderbilt re-wrote. Peter Morgan wrote the current draft.
Previously both Bruce Willis and filmmaker Mark Pellington were linked with the project, at the moment no director is attached. Beau Flynn, Tripp Vinson and Matthias Emke are producing.
