“Baby Driver” and “The Fault in Our Stars” actor Ansel Elgort has come aboard to lead the drama “The Great High School Imposter” for Participant Media and Conde Nast Entertainment.
The story deals with Artur Samarin, a young Ukranian man who posed as a teenager (five years younger than himself) so he could be adopted by a childless couple in a small Pennsylvania town and became the top student in his high school. His adopted parents turned him into the authorities upon learning the truth.
The story is based on a GQ Magazine article published this year by journalist Daniel Riley. Mike Makowsky is adapting the script while Jeremy Steckler is producing.
Elgort is also attached to soon play the lead role of Tony in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” remake.
