Another “Wizard of Oz” Prequel Planned

RAMstar Studios have announced plans for a “Wizard of Oz” prequel film based on Donald Abbot’s 1991 novelization “How the Wizard Came To Oz”.

The film will explore how circus stuntman Oscar Diggs was whisked away to the land of Oz and how he became the “wizard” encountered by Dorothy in the famous story The Wizard of Oz.

Abbot will pen the script while Cole S. McKay will direct. This follows in the wake of Sam Raimi’s 2013 big-budget “Oz The Great and Powerful” and will potentially precede the “Wicked” film adaptation which is due Christmas 2019.
