Another Dead “Thrones” Character Returns

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE SIXTH SEASON OF “GAME OF THRONES”

Much of the sixth season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” remains a mystery now that we’re out of book territory. One of the biggest mysteries that has cropped up though from set photos and reports has been the apparent return of several dead characters.

Photos and videos from the set seem to show both Kit Harington’s Jon Snow and Sean Bean’s Eddard Stark popping up in the new season despite Bean’s character dying in the first season and Harington’s seemingly left for dead in the fifth season finale.

Now some new photos from filming of the sixth season in Pensicola, Spain have emerged which show actress Sibel Kekilli (Shae) alongside actor Conleth Hill (Lord Varys) and show co-creator D.B. Weiss. While the first day’s photos show her in civilian clothing, some others have her in costume and she is reportedly staying at a hotel in Spain specifically set aside for working cast members on the new season.

Shae was famously strangled to death by Tyrion in the fourth season finale. The scenes being shot in that part of Spain are said to be set in Meereen. With Daario Naharis (Michiel Huisman) and Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen) setting off to find Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) is left dealing with a famine in the city according to a report in The Independent.

The news comes as HBO has released the cover art for the Blu-ray box-set of the show’s fifth season.
