The one and only Annette Bening is in talks for a role in the upcoming film adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “Death on the Nile” at 20th Century Fox.
Kenneth Branagh returns to both direct and star as Christie’s famed Belgian detective Hercule Poirot as he attempts to unravel the murder of a young heiress while on holiday in Egypt.
The initial report indicates Wright will play a character named Euphemia, though no such character exists in the book. It is possibly a new version of either alcoholic erotic trash novelist Salome Otterbourne or the fiery rich old widow Miss Van Schuyler, played by Angela Lansbury and Bette Davis respectively in the previous 1978 film adaptation.
Michael Green is returning to pen the script. Bening joins a cast that includes Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Letitia Wright, Tom Bateman and Jodie Comer. Filming aims to begin in late September ahead of an October 2nd 2020 release.
