Anne of Green Gables Gets An Event Series

Canadian broadcaster CBC has greenlit the eight-episode event series “Anne,” a new take on Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic children’s novel “Anne of Green Gables”.

The series follows the titular young orphaned girl who, after an abusive childhood spent in orphanages and the homes of strangers, is mistakenly sent to live with an elderly spinster and her aging brother.

Over time, 13-year-old Anne and her unique spirit will transform their lives and eventually the small town in which they live.

“Breaking Bad” alum Moira Walley-Beckett created the series and will serve as executive producer and writer with production to begin this Spring ahead of a 2017 CBC premiere.
