Oscar winner Anne Hathaway is reportedly in early talks to star in a live-action musical film version of iconic children’s TV series “Sesame Street” at MGM and Warner Bros. Pictures.
Jonathan Krisel (“Portlandia”) is set to direct the film while Shawn Levy and Michael Aguilar are producing. The project is being developed with Sesame Workshop, which holds the rights to the beloved show which has been on the air since the 1960s.
Hathaway is circling the role of Sally, which happens to be the name of the girl who appeared on the very first episode of the show. Hathaway appeared in the show’s 2007 holiday special “Elmo’s Christmas Countdown”.
Mike Rosolio penned the first draft, while Chris Galletta wrote the most recent version.
