Oscar winner Anne Hathaway is reportedly the top choice to star in the “Barbie” movie for Sony Pictures according to The Tracking Board. Sources stress no offer is yet on the table and her casting is far from a lock.
If she joins, Hathaway would replace “Trainwreck” star and comedian Amy Schumer who exited the project earlier this year due to schedule conflicts.
The story follows a misfit living in a land of perfect Barbies, who comes to the real world where her being/looking different turns into an asset.
Alethea Jones (“Fun Mom Dinner”) is also rumored to be directing the project from a script by Hilary Winston (“The LEGO Ninjago Movie”), Schumer and Kim Caramele. Walter F. Parkes, Laurie MacDonald and Amy Pascal will produce the film.
