Annapurna Tries Its Hand At Video Games

Annapurna Pictures (“Zero Dark Thirty,” “Her,” “The Master”) have announced plans to branch out with Annapurna Interactive, a new division dedicated to producing and publishing video games.

The company’s aim is to develop personal, emotional, and original games that push the boundaries of interactive content and allow artists to bring their own distinct visions to this medium.

The first two are set for a Spring 2017 release – the hand-illustrated puzzle game “Gorogoa,” and the previously announced “What Remains of Edith Finch” which is described as a playable collection of short stories.

Others on the way are games from the talents behind the likes of “Monument Valley” and “Katamari,” while gaming veterans from the likes of “Journey,” “God of War,” “Mortal Kombat,” and “Everybody‚Äôs Gone to the Rapture” will run the new publisher.
