Hulu and Annapurna Pictures have made a major output licensing agreement that will grant Hulu the pay window streaming rights to films released by Annapurna.
Under terms of the the multi-year deal, future films released by Annapurna Pictures will stream exclusively on Hulu following their theatrical release and will be the biggest film output licensing agreement for Hulu to date – along with the first-of-its-kind agreement for Annapurna Pictures.
Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled Detroit riots project will be the first release under the agreement, and Richard Linklater’s “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” starring Cate Blanchett will also fall under the agreement.
In related news, Annapurna is the front-runner to serve as the new home for Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B. Previously setup at New Regency, that agreement expired in January. Nothing is set as yet though.
