“Lights Out” helmer David F. Sandberg has confirmed today that the upcoming sequel to 2014’s “Annabelle,” the spin-off to “The Conjuring,” has a new title – “Annabelle: Creation”.
The story of the sequel follows a dollmaker and his wife who, several years after the tragic death of their little girl, welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home. Very soon, however, they become the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.
Anthony LaPaglia, Miranda Otto, Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, Lulu Wilson, Philippa Coulthard, Grace Fulton, Lou Lou Safran, Samara Lee, and Tayler Buck star. Sandberg directs from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman.
The first “Annabelle” earned nearly $257 million at the worldwide box office from a $5 million budget and that’s despite mixed reviews. Peter Safran and James Wan will produce the follow-up which is currently targeting an August 11th release.
