The recent hit horror title “Annabelle” has been withdrawn from several French cinemas following riots in auditoriums.
The Guardian reports that managers in Marseille, Strasbourg and Montpellier have cancelled screenings until further notice for security reasons.
The withdrawal is taking place after more than a thousand people attended a screening at a 450-seat cinema in Marseilles on Saturday. The mostly teenage crowd began fighting, throwing popcorn and even ripping up theatre seats.
This is apparently not the first time this has happened. Similar incidents took place during screenings of the likes of “Paranormal Activity” and “Sinister” with the latter pulled from more than 40 screens in 2012.
