A decade ago, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation released “Superman: Doomsday,” a VERY loose adaptation of the iconic comics storyline “Death of Superman” and a direct-to-video film that has largely been forgotten in recent years.
Now the company is having a go at the same story again, this time the plan is to follow the comics much more closely. Sam Liu and Jake Castorena co-direct the film which looks decidedly low budget, even by direct-to-disc standards in the first trailer which has just been released.
The story features the voice talents of Jerry O’Connell (Superman), Rebecca Romijn (Lois Lane), Rainn Wilson (Lex Luthor), Jason O’Mara (Batman), Rosario Dawson (Wonder Woman), Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern), Christopher Gorham (The Flash), Matt Lanter (Aquaman), and Shemar Moore (Cyborg).
The film arrives on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD this summer.
