Showtime has picked up a script for a series based on the 2010 Sundance prize-winning Australian crime drama “Animal Kingdom” reports The Live Feed.
The story revolves around a family of criminals as they battle the police, and the ordinary lives caught in the middle. “Southland” writer/co-executive producer Johnathan Lisco is penning the pilot.
“Shameless” showrunner John Wells is attached as an executive producer as is the original film’s director David Michod and producer Liz Watts.
The move continues a flurry of new pilots the cabler has ordered including the Paul Bettany-led “Masters of Sex” and the Liev Schreiber-led “Ray Donovan”.
The network has seen success this past year with the launch of three new dramas – “Homeland,” “The Borgias” and “Shameless” – alongside its long-running champion “Dexter”.
