With the writer’s strike still ongoing, production has been postponed on “Angels & Demons” – the film adaptation of the prequel novel to author Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code”.
Reuters reports that scribe Akiva Goldsman’s script was rushed to meet the November 1st deadline and wasn’t complete – furthermore no cast had signed on beyond returning cast member Tom Hanks.
A spokesperson said “While the filmmakers and the studio feel the screenplay is very strong, we do not believe it is the fully realized production draft required of this ambitious project.”
The Ron Howard directed Vatican-set thriller was scheduled to begin shooting in February for release next Christmas, that release has now been pushed back to May 15th 2009.
No other changes are expected to happen to Sony’s slate, whilst it’s other major late 2008 release – “Bond 22” – will not be affected.
