Viola Davis may be playing beloved DC villain Amanda Waller in the upcoming “Suicide Squad” movie, but she isn’t the first in the role on the big screen as Angela Bassett played the part in 2011’s failed “Green Lantern” film.
Bassett recently spoke with IGN about her role in the upcoming video game “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege” and briefly discussed her time playing Waller, a role over which she has no regrets:
“You know, I enjoyed working on that. Of course you wish it had been bigger and more successful. But you just don’t know. I mean I know we put a lot of work in and I thought it was well done. You know, well-directed, acted, and cast. But, you never know what is going to just grab the audience and they won’t let go. So, that particular one wasn’t, but maybe it’ll come back around. Because there were some real die-hard fans for the Wall.”
Bassett was reportedly surprised to hear about Waller’s return for the future DC cinematic universe films, though upon hearing about Davis taking on the role she said: “She’ll be great. She’ll be great.”
