Thought dead months ago, “A Little Game” has gotten new life over at Focus Features reports Variety.
Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz were set to play the leads and Gabriele Muccino (“The Pursuit of Happyness”) to direct the project.
The stars then abruptly left the production weeks before it was set to begin shooting and Muccino was dismissed.
Now, Ang Lee (“Brokeback Mountain”, “Hulk”) has become attached and will get started on it once he wraps work on his current project “Lust, Caution”.
Focus co-chairman James Schamus is rewriting the romantic comedy, an adaptation of a French play called “A Little Game of Consequence.”
The story centers on a happily engaged Brooklyn couple who decide to play an experiment on their friends.
When a rumor goes around that they have broken up, they play along to find out what their pals really think of their coupling.
