Comic book artist-turned-filmmaker Kaare Andrews is in final negotiations to direct the prequel “Cabin Fever: Patient Zero” for Indomina Group and Hypotenuse Pictures says Heat Vision.
Jake Wade Wall (“The Hitcher” remake) is penning the script, the first of two prequels, which reveals the origin of the flesh-eating virus that struck a group of young adults in Eli Roth’s 2002 original indie horror film.
This take deals with the passengers of a cruise ship in the Caribbean that runs aground a private island being used to conduct scientific research. They must find a way to survive before the disease consumes them all.
Evan Astrowsky is producing and shooting will take place in the Dominican Republic. No word as yet when the second prequel, “Cabin Fever: Outbreak”, will go into production.
