Andrew Garfield Hears Scorsese’s “Silence”

Andrew Garfield will play the lead role of Father Rodrigues in Martin Scorsese’s next project “Silence” at Emmett/Furla Films and Corsan Films.

The story is an adaptation of Shusaku Endo’s novel about 17th century Jesuits who to try bring Christianity to isolated Japan.

Ken Watanabe is also joining the film as the Jesuit’s interpreter. Jay Cocks and Scorsese co-wrote the script.

Financing has been secured, with shooting beginning in July next year in Taiwan.
