“Fish Tank” and “American Honey” helmer Andrea Arnold has been set as the director of all seven episodes of the upcoming second season of HBO’s “Big Little Lies”. HBO has officially given the order for the new season, announcing the news on Friday.
In a statement, HBO President Casey Bloys says: “I’m excited to announce the return of Big Little Lies. David Kelley wrote beautiful scripts and Reese and Nicole were, once again, a force to be reckoned with, reuniting the cast and recruiting the talented Andrea Arnold to direct. We look forward to working with this amazing group of artists.”
Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon are officially slated to return to both star and executive produce, while most of the cast – including Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoe Kravitz – are expected to return.
David E. Kelley is writing all the scripts and executive producing, like he did on the first season. Arnold replaces Jean-Marc Vallee who is still onboard as an executive producer.
