She lent her voice to a giant wolf in “Princess Mononoke,” now “X-Files” and “Hannibal” actress Gillian Anderson is re-teaming with Studio Ghibli for another project – the anime TV series “Ronja the Robber’s Daughter” which has been acquired by Amazon Original Kids Series.
The action follows an adventurous young girl who grows up exploring a beautiful and dangerous forest filled with mythical creatures. The daughter of a professional robber, Ronja realizes the complicated nature of her father’s profession when she befriends the child of a rival tribe. She soon struggles to balance the relationship with her family and the bond with her self-proclaimed brother as she comes to understand the intricate issues of family and friendship.
Originally made for Japanese TV, the 26-part anime adventure is based on the beloved book by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. Anderson will serve as the story’s narrator. Goro Miyazaki (“Tales from Earthsea”) helms all the episodes which will appear on Prime Video in the US, UK, Germany, Austria, and Japan later this Fall.
