Amiel Replacing McGuigan On “Carnival Row”

English film director Jon Amiel (“Copycat,” “Entrapment”) is set to replace Paul McGuigan (“Push,” “Sherlock”), who was originally set to direct and executive produce the fantasy series “Carnival Row” for Amazon.

Filming began in October on the eight-episode neo-Victorian noir tale in which mythical creatures flee their war-torn homeland and have gathered in the city. Tensions simmer between citizens and the growing immigrant population as the show follows an investigation into a string of unsolved murders.

Orlando Bloom leads the cast as a police inspector investigating the murder of Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevingne), a faerish refugee who flees her war-torn homeland to come to the Burgue. Rene Echevarria and Travis Beacham will also executive produce the series which is expected to debut in early 2019.
