Starz is rumored to be saying that the problems that have plagued production of the second season of its fantasy series “American Gods” can go to hell, they are intending to stick with the show.
The show was hyped at the Television Critics Association press tour this week and a source tells Deadline that a third season is almost a certainty at this point, so long as they can find the right show runner with a solid blueprint who can produce the show on budget and on time. They add: “We didn’t make Season 2 of American Gods not to make a Season 3…It’s a big book.”
That third season will likely center on the Lakeside portion of Neil Gaiman’s award-winning 2001 novel with Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) hiding from the New Gods in a freezing Wisconsin town where evil is lurking, the body count is rising, and the war heats up. The project has been envisioned as a five or six season show from the beginning.
