Even before the first season has premiered, FX has already made early plans for the second season of its upcoming anthology drama series “American Crime Story”.
The first season, which airs this year, deals with the O.J. Simpson case from the murders to the subsequent public trial. Producer Brad Simpson admits to THR that “O.J. is a hard act to follow” and so have chosen something quite different for the next go around.
Expanding its definition of “American crime”, the second installment will center on Hurricane Katrina and its devastating aftermath. The new season will follow a group of six to eight people and will deal with all sides of the tragedy from the Superdome to the hospitals to the mistreatment of many individuals by a broken system.
Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are returning for the follow-up which will begin production in the Fall.
