AMC’s “Preacher” Finds Its Arseface

Ian Colletti (“Rake”) has scored the role of Eugene Root, a.k.a. Arseface, in AMC’s upcoming TV series adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s “Preacher” comics.

The series revolves around Jesse Custer, a Texas preacher who merges with a creature that gives him the ability to bend people’s will. After learning that God has abandoned his post in heaven, he goes on a journey with his ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and a female vampire named Cassidy to find God.

In the comics, Eugene has a disfigured face and speech impediment dismissed by the world. Yet he’s an incredibly nice kid who looks up to Jesse, although he’s haunted by his past.

The casting follows that of Negga earlier this week, while Dominic Cooper is reportedly in contention to play Jesse. Sam Catlin wrote the pilot script and will executive produce alongside Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, with the latter two directing the pilot episode.
