Beleaguered movie ticketing subscription service MoviePass is now getting some serious competition from the one group that won’t have an issue with economic viability – the exhibitors themselves.
Cinema giant AMC Theatres is reportedly launching a discounted movie ticket program, AMC Stubs A-List, where members can see up to three regular movies a week for $19.95 a month, as well as receive discounts on concessions, express service, no online ticketing fees and other benefits.
The program will allow members to view available movies at any U.S.-based AMC location, and in any format, including IMAX, Dolby Cinema, RealD 3D, Prime and BigD. Though there is no carryover from week to week, members can see all three movies on the same day as long as they allow two hours between showtimes. Repeat viewings of the same movie are allowed.
The program will launch on June 26th. AMC Stubs A-List comes in answer to rival such as a loyalty program at Cinemark and competition from MoviePass.
