Amazon’s live-action fantasy series “Wheel of Time” series, based on Robert Jordan’s best-selling fifteen novel saga, has set its main cast following Rosamund Pike’s hiring back in June.
The story is set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it. Pike plays Moiraine, a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers.
There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom – Rand al’Thor – is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.
Those five have now been revealed. Josha Stradowski has been cast in the role of Rand al’Thor, Marcus Rutherford is Perrin Aybara, Zoe Robins is Nynaeve,, Barney Harris is Mat Cauthon and Madeleine Madden is Egwene Al’Vere.
The series has sold more than 90 million copies worldwide since its 1984 debut. Pike will also produce the series which is a co-production between Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television.
Rave Judkins serves as showrunner and will adapt Jordan’s novels for television. Larry Mondragon, Rick Selvage, Ted Field, Mike Weber, Darren Lemke, Marigo Kehoe and Uta Briesewitz will executive produce with the latter to direct the first two episodes.
